Multi-campus Window Wraps – 2025
A window wrap design place on student-facing buildings in Macon, Cochran, Dublin, and Warner Robins. While the design is rather straightforward, the process of getting this done was anything but. Outside of finding a standardized design that worked for 4 buildings with wildly different window layouts, getting the measurements just right and prepping the files correctly was a headache; multiple revisions, trips to other campuses with a tape measure, remaking the files to match the printer’s updated specs, etc. It was a learning process for large-scale projects to be sure. Designed in Adobe Illustrator.
Honey Labels – 2023
A label for bottles of honey harvested by MGA’s Department of Natural Sciences. Other than the text, the brief was very open-ended; just make it obvious it’s honey from MGA. Thankfully, bees are the best and have an established image, so I started with ‘hexagons but purple’ and went from there. While I still think ‘Knight’s Nectar’ was a good name, the client liked the middle option the best. Designed in Adobe Illustrator.
Movie Parody Posters
A series of parody movie posters used on social media in the summer of 2021. Since summer is usually a slow period for higher education, MarComm thought we’d have some fun with our mascot and opened ideas to the office. I pitched the idea of parodying movie posters from summer blockbusters of yesteryear and it was approved! We started with a very long list of possibilities, narrowed it down by feasibility and if I could find a scan of the poster online, then decided on our final selections. I came up with each concept, content and all, and worked for about a week to produce these posters parodying, in order: Alien, Men in Black, Pretty in Pink, Rocky, and The Titanic. It was a lot of fun and a great opportunity to flex some Photoshop editing skills. Designed in Photoshop.
MGAKnights5K
An emblem and shirt design for the MGA Knights 5K, part of the 2022 Cherry Blossom Festival. Our office wasn’t notified that MGA was hosting this event until 4 days before the event itself, at which point we were asked to produce an event logo and T-shirt design. Our office scrambled to find a vendor that could fill a rush order while I was given a few hours to come up with something. I’m not so much proud of the design itself as much as I am proud that we were able to produce something and cover the event so quickly. Designed in Illustrator.
Cyclocross Poster – 2021
A poster for a Cyclocross event held at MGA’s Georgia Premier Cross Country Course. Cyclocross is a mix of racing and mountain biking, often on a short course with obstacles like mud hills and barriers that may require athletes to jump off of and carry their bikes to overcome. In research, I found that most posters didn’t actually go for the gritty, dirt-splash look that I expected, opting instead for stylized cycling illustrations and imagery. To match this, I took a simple illustration of a Cyclocross-style bike, broke it into sections, and limited my palette to vibrant hues of the primary colors. Those colors were then used to separate the info below into easily discernible sections for readability. Designed in Illustrator.
Baseball Banner
A huge 8ft x 4ft banner to be displayed at a local high school’s baseball field to promote MGA athletics. I started with the giant baseball from a stock image and used a combination of Photoshop filters to achieve a gritty, outlined effect. I then cut out the 8 players from separate action shots, arranged them around the ball, and created the dirt/mist effects with a few custom Photoshop Brushes. The final touches were adding the background image with a gradient map and placing the logos. Designed in Photoshop. Baseball athlete photos by Jason Vorhees (@midgakillrfotog).
Bibb County Robotics Support 2023
Another partnership with Bibb County Robotics to support a local team, again with a cardboard-cutout and shirt design. This year’s theme was Charged Up and the team specifically requested their mascot be mixed with the Energizer Bunny. Designed in Illustrator.
Bibb County Robotics Support – 2020
A partnership with Bibb County Robotics to support a local team heading to the FIRST Robotics competition. My role included designing the team’s mascot for a life-size cardboard cutout and a shirt design. Per tradition, the team wanted their personal robot mascot to be mixed with the year’s theme, Infinite Recharge. Since FIRST was partnering with Star Wars that year, an obvious choice was to put the mascot’s head and claw hands on an illustration of C3P0’s body. The shirt added a slew of misc. technical drawings and faux-scientific readings and charts, plus an infinite battery meter to match the theme and a couple of easter eggs. Designed in Illustrator.
